I am pleased to report that I have added 3 new teams to the Husky Football League: The St. Cloud State, the St. Mary's, and the East Los Angeles. They are each good teams, with a combined season record of 24 wins & 9 non-wins. Go Huskies!!!!

This week, only 2 teams had games. The Northern Illinoises beat some robertcats. Sadly, the Connecticuts lost to some stupid bearcats. (Are they bears? Are they cats? I don't know. BTW, my Human often calls me "pigbear." I think that's a better nickname than "bearcat.")

I got overly excited and posted this before I wrote any words. This season is dwindling down and just 3 teams had games this week. But each team won, so that made me happy. The Northern Illinoises beat some eagles. The Washingtons beat some cougars. And the Connecticuts beat some scarlet knights. I do need to make a correction. At some point during the season, I goofed up and miss counted the number of wins that the Washingtons had. I missed 1 victory in my standings board. I regret this error.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all people who celebrate Thanksgiving Day. And for those who don't, Happy Day! Either way, celebrate today by eating something special.

A long time ago, I posted my food pyramid with my suggestions of the size of servings everyone should eat:

The U.S. government revised their pyramid to be shaped like a plate. So, I decided that I needed to update mine to be a plate also:You will notice that I'm now advising that everyone should eat an equal portion of bacon and froot. I've updated it that we should eat slightly less cheese. But we now should all eat a good amount of burritos. Under the Miscellaneous category, I've included whip, Nilla wafers, banana chips, Cheez-Its, salsa, & peanuts. (Marigold the Goat Philosopher recommended peanuts.)

2 Weeks in 1

Thanks everyone for your kind words about my friend Fargo. I (and everyone else in our pack) appreciate it. We all miss him, but we are doing okay.

I didn't update the Husky Football League last weekend, so I'm doing that first before talking about this week. The Turbo-Colored Huskies of Bloomsburg are back on track and defeated some eagles without hair. The Northern Illinoises beat another type of bird - falcons. The Michigan Techs beat some wildcats. Unfortunately, the Washingtons did not score more points than some citizens of Troy. (The Connecticuts did not play, and the Saskatchewans have played their final game.) And I was disappointed that the Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies are not in the playoffs. Therefore, their season has come to an end.

Okay. I will update this week's standings after this important message: I was thinking about the football helmets of the teams of the Husky Football League. Here's what they look like:I don't understand why the Washingtons and the Connecticuts don't have a graphic of a husky on their helmets.

Now back to the sports report. This week only 3 teams had games, and only 33% of the teams won. The Northern Illinoises beat some stupid cardinals. The Washingtons did not score more points than some beavers. And the Connecticuts did not beat some stupid (different) cardinals.

It's dreary and stupid outside today. I guess that is a good weather metaphor for a week that 50% of the husky league members won and 50% did not win:The Northern Illinoises beat some rockets, The Michigan Techs scored more points than some bulldogs (sorry dogs!), and the Connecticuts defeated the color orange.I was sad that the Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies did not score more points to some golden bears. Also the Washingtons did not win against some ducks and the Saskatchewans ended their season with a non-win against some thunderbirds. (I hate thunder!)In closing, here's me:

Now, on with the football league news! The Washingtons beat some wildcats and the Saskatchewans prevailed against some golden bears. About those Saskatchewans, they scored 67 points against the golden bears' 3 points! That's what I'd call a decisive victory!

I have some sad news: The Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies did not win against some pioneers. The Michigan Techs did not defeat some lakers and the Connecticuts did not beat some panthers.

The Northern Illinoises will be taking on some rockets on Tuesday night.

Late Games This Week & Claudette

A couple of the games were played later yesterday, so I decided to dig some holes and nap. I knew I could post about them this morning.

Overall, it was a great weekend with the Turbo-Colored Huskies of Bloomsburg defeating some golden rams, the Michigan Techs won against some timberwolves, the Northern Illinoises beat some bulls, and the Saskatchewans were victorious over some non-golden rams. (The Connecticuts had the weekend off to nap.)

The Washingtons had their 2nd non-win against the color of cardinal (not the bird).

I feel the need to add that Turbo-Colored Huskies of Bloomsburg had a particularly thrilling victory. They didn't score any points in the 1st quarter. A couple of minutes into the 2nd quarter, the golden rams were up 35 points to 0. But at that point the Bloomsburgs started scoring lots of points. The final score was 55 Bloomsburg points to 42 golden rams points.

I want to step away from the sports page to pay tribute to a Dogs With Blogs family member who has left our world to join our friends across the rainbow bridge. Claudette Hudson had been a long time member of DWB at Lacy Lulu & Rocky's human. I doubt anydog or anyhuman has ever met a kinder being than Claudette. Although all of us who got to know Claudette are sad that she is no longer with us, we know that she is having a great time with all our friends who are playing on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

4 Wins & 2 Non-Wins!

So Huskies again won more games than they didn't win. I'd call that a good weekend. Of course I remain pleased that the Turbo-Colored Huskies of Bloomsburg remain undefeated. The Washingtons, Northern Illinoises, & Connecticuts also were winner. (These winning Huskies beat raiders, buffalos, broncos, & bulls).I'm sad to report that the Michigan Techs and Saskatchewans were non-winners to some chargers & dinosaurs (that remain unextinct).

Speaking of the Bloomsburg Turbo-Color Huskies, I've noticed something that perplexes me. When a human dresses up as the Bloomsburg mascot Roongo, he is not at all Turbo-Colored!This is a human in a Roongo costume:

So! 2 HFL teams won, 2 didn't win, and 2 didn't play.

The Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies beat up some wolves (sorry wolves!) and the Northern Illinoises destroyed some golden flashes. I still agree with a statement I made back in 2007 that "Golden Flash" sounds like the name of a superhero that runs and pees!

Unfortunately, the Michigan Techs got a non-win against some stupid cardinals! And the Connecticuts did not score more points than some mountain ears.

Both the Washingtons & the Saskatchewans decided to nap today rather than play.

So the 5th week of the Husky Football League season occured this week. I'm happy to report that huskies defeated 67% of their opponents this week. The victorious huskies were the undefeated Turbo-Colored Huskies of Bloomsburg, Michigan Tech, Washington, & Saskatchewan. These huskies ruined the weekend of warriors, panthers, (sorry Huffle), utes, & thunderbirds.The Northern Illinoises & Connecticuts both lost sadly to chippewas & broncos. But they both came didn't lose by much - only 7 points a piece.

HFL Week 4

Haroo everywoo! I am overjoyed that my darling niece, Khady, is doing so much better! Keep up the good woo, KhL!I am also thrilled to report that this week in the Husky Football Leagues season is much more victorious than last week! The Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies remain undefeated after doing away with some marauders. I'm not really sure what a marauder is. I think that Bea Arthur had a TV series in the 1970's called Marauder or something. I don't know for sure as I wasn't born until a long, long time later.

So, Michigan Tech, Washington, Northern Illinois, & Connecticut all defeated their opponents, which were respectively some greyhounds, golden bears, mustangs, & bulls.

Sadly, the U of Saskatchewan lost their second in a row; this one to some dinosaurs. Go back to being extinct stupid dinos! You'd think Jake would have been able to gnaw on their bones.

To answer Huffle Mawson's question, there are many North American schools that have panthers as mascots. In fact, it's the 3rd most common mascot.In conclusion, here's an old picture of me so that you don't feel neglected:

Husky Football League 2011: Week 3

So I decided that what the world needs now is not "love sweet love." Instead what is needed is me to report on the weekly results of the Husky Football League. I did not cover the league last year and it has caused the world to be on the verge of economic collapse. I'm doing my part to right this wrong.

There's some really good news this season! The Northeastern University football team will not be losing any games this season! Now, back in 2009 there final record was 3 wins and 8 losses. Apparently these wise Huskies decided to stop losing games in 2010 and will continue to not lose games this season. In non-related news, they are no longer fielding a football team.

In other good news, the Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies are leading the league! This week they beat a bunch of Crimson Hawks. I bet those hawks were even more crimson after the Turbo-Colored Huskies got done with them, too.

But, sadly, that is where the good news ends this week. Michigan Tech lost to some warriors, Saskatchewan trampled by some bisons (and one of my Human's old schools at that!), Washington shucked by some ears of corn, Northern Illinois were badgered by badgers, and Connecticut were blown away by some twirly winds.

There had been a squeak toy buried outside of our house by a tall tree. We knew it because if we stepped on the ground, it would squeak! The Meep dug it up and my Human brought it inside and cleaned it. I knew where it was:

The toy turned out to be filled with a very crumbly foam stuffing. Once my Human saw that, she took it away and didn't even get a picture!

A Pre-Memorial Day Tradition: Timing Belt or Siberian Husky?

Once again I am posting a "re-run" edition of the World of Turbo. This entry is a repeat of one that I posted 3 years ago and a year before that.

On Sunday of Memorial Day weekend in 1999, my Human was driving her car around noon and the timing belt broke.

On Saturday of Memorial Day weekend in 2000, my Human decided that Lex needed a friend. She went to the local animal shelter. She originally thought that she wanted to get a female, but none of them appealed to her. She then saw a dog labeled "Cochise." She liked him a lot, so she adopted him. Cochise became Misha Meep. (Below is Meepie's first photo after he came home.)

One year later on Memorial Day weekend 2001, my Human went to the local Farmer's Market and the animal shelter had an information booth. The woman who had handled Meep's adoption was working. My Human thanked her for helping out with Meepie. The woman said that the shelter had a red husky that they were calling Blaze. My Human decided to go over to "look" at the husky and to get information to help find him a home. She visited several times. No one was adopting Blaze, so my Human decided that if he was still there on Wednesday, she would adopt him. He was still there, so on Friday Fargo North Dogkota became a member of the family. (Below is the first photo of Fargo.)

My Human did not get a new Husky during Memorial Day weekend 2002. But that Sunday afternoon around noon her timing belt broke. This was especially stupid because her car had a rebuilt engine put in on the previous Thursday, but the mechanics put the used timing belt on her engine.

Since then my Human has not had to replace any timing belts and she has not added any Huskies during Memorial Day weekend. Now she tries not to drive anywhere at noon on the Sunday before Memorial Day.

I know that I've been in reruns lately, but St. Patrick's Day is a Turbo tradition. I've discussed this fine holiday in previous years, and this year is no exception.

I have mentioned in previous years that my Human grew up in this stupid town called Rolla, MO. They don't have a lot to be proud about there. But they have this university there that used to be called the Missouri School of Mines. Then they started calling it University of Missouri at Rolla. But now they call it MST, which doesn't stand for Mighty Siberian Turbo. It stands for Missouri [University of] Science [and] Technology. (The "University of" and the "and" are silent.)

So that school teaches humans about science and technology, apparently. I guess engineering is something like science and technology because they are famous for teaching people engineering. This St. Patrick guy is supposed to be the patron saint of engineering. My Human (who is not an engineer) said she was told that it has something to do with St. Pat driving the snakes out of Ireland. Snakes look something like worms. Engineers made worm-drives, so...

Anyway, human logic is weird.

Back to that stupid town of Rolla. Every year the M[Uo]S[a]T has a big party to celebrate St. Patrick's day. Part of the celebration involves humans buying St Pat's sweatshirts. Each year they come out with new ones. There are many engineer humans who have shirts from many, many years. Here is the design of this year's shirt:

They also have other celebrations.For example, the St Pat's Board paints the main street (called Pine Street) with lots of stinky stuff (called Alice) that has turned green. Although, I did not make it down to Rolla during my campaign for the US House of Representatives, I have a feeling that the citizens and visitors to Rolla would have been very receptive to the message of this dog running for office. I declared myself elected, anyway, so it's all okay.

In honor of Memorial Day, I am featuring something I found while on my quest to find husky mascots. I have been wanting to honor Frank Buckles for some time, but I can't do it as well as Jade Womack did in the Lasso Online (the student newspaper of George Mason High School).

Relating to the Oldest American Veteran

In honor of Memorial Day and the many veterans of our country, Lasso Online has kept this article until now to help Mustangs remember how much we can learn and relate to the courageous soldiers who have fought and will fight for the U.S.A. A few months ago, I had the privilege of meeting Frank Buckles, who is the last surviving World War I soldier in America. Ideally he is the oldest soldier currently in America. He is the single thread that keeps World War I from slipping into secondhand memory. At 107 years old, he has seen so much history firsthand that students at Mason now study in textbooks.

He was eleven when the Titanic sank, “It was big news.” he said. He remarked children that actually read the newspaper at that time. At two years old, Ford Motor Company was created and around seven, the first plastics were invented. He drove the family car when he was twelve and at the bright age of thirteen, he bought his first telegraph. At the age of fifteen, he worked as a bank teller. He bought his first TV in the 1960’s for $100. (The dollar was worth more when he was a child.) He remembers reading several accounts of when the Red Baron was shot down.

At age sixteen, the United States entered World War I and Buckles was eager to join to serve his country. He lied about his age and told them he was eighteen. Since there was no Air Force, his choices were the Army, Navy, or Marines. He applied first to the Marines and was told he was not heavy enough. He then went to the Navy and was turned down because of his flat feet. He then went to two Army recruiting centers. The first time he was again turned down because of his age; he had to be twenty-one. Buckles didn’t give up and went to another center; however, the officer wanted proof of his age. “I said where I came from there weren’t birth certificates.” he notes. The officer believed him, and Buckles was sent to Kansas for training in the ambulance corps. He believed that was the easiest way to get to France.

When on a ship in Norfolk, a fortune teller came aboard and told him that he would have seven good years, then some horrible years. He stated that she was correct for he had seven wonderful years aboard the ship. He had the chance to transfer to another but turned it down because he was happy there. Then World War II broke out and his ship was turned into a merchant ship for the Marines.

Soon after, in the Philippines, he and the crew were captured by the Japanese and spent 39 months as prisoners of war. Although he wasn’t tortured, many around him starved to death. “There was a chap that everyone liked,” Buckles said. “He always tried to be cheerful. But he became weak. He said, ‘Frank, I’m not going to make it.’ The next day, he died. Maybe I made it because I had the will to survive, but many died.”

I asked him about his opinion on all the schedules people have for their lives. He asked “What’s the rush” of today’s instant news, schedules, and information age? Buckles doesn’t have a computer and doesn’t know he has a Wikipedia page. In addition, he does not currently own a television and thinks people watch too much of it. He said one of the problems today is people no longer read.

No one had a driver’s license when he was in his teens. Buckles was able to master the art of driving from the car dealer. However, when he tried to teach his father later, they crashed into their fence because his father kept yelling “Whoa! Whoa!” to the car and did not know how to use the brake.

Church in Buckles day was not only a forum for religion, but a way to socialize. He stated that he used to like this red headed girl, but he couldn’t see her because she went to a different church. “You didn’t call on the telephone.” Back in those days the only way to “flirt” with a girl would be at church.” You could walk her home in front of her parents.” Buckles relates. So he begged his parent to change churches. “And they did!” he said. Then he could walk with her on the way home. He added his advice on love—“Don’t get married until you can afford it.”

I asked him advice he would give today to high school students. “Everyone tries to get rich,” he said. “But money can disappear very quickly. Being rich is a brief situation.” Furthermore, he remarked that people should strive to get a job they enjoy and can support themselves without help from anyone. “A person should never go into anything they don’t like,” he said.

He can remember when he was eighteen and women got the right to vote. He said it wasn’t long ago and it was a good thing. “Yet it [woman being able to vote] should have happened long time ago. There isn’t a thing a man can do that a woman can’t do.”

I asked him: Who was the worst president he lived under and who was the best? He was only eight months old when McKinley was killed, but he was the worst, or at least that was what his parents always told him. The best president was Theodore Roosevelt in his opinion. He knew several of Roosevelt’s children personally.

Nevertheless, he liked John Kennedy because “We needed someone young in there.” When I asked about Nixon, Buckles said, “Nixon might have used bad language, but his foreign policy was fine.” With current politics, he thinks the Iraq conflict is a mistake, “and we have no business being there.”

Yet, how does he survive? The oldest man ever recorded to live was around 120 which Buckles could pass in thirteen years. His secret is exercise. He does around 50 sit-ups every morning while still in bed at 107 years old. He worked on his farm until three years ago and drove his car until he was 100.

When asked about World War I, he stated that his generation had been forgotten. All around the mall there are monuments for World War II, Vietnam, and Korea. Where is World War I’s? “It’s about time.” Time is something that this WWI [veteran] has cherished. He says the secret of his long life was “The will to survive.”

Something stupid about the fact there was no Missouri 14th Congressional District. Nevertheless, I declared myself to be a Congressdog. I am serving in absentia.

And speaking of moving, we are all officially moved into our new house on the shores of Lake Tubey. I was reading the news to see what was going on in the world of huskies. I found this article about how some insurance companies consider various dog breeds to be "dangerous."

Here's a very stupid sentence from the article (emphasis mine):

As a breed, Siberian Huskies are closely related to wolves, closely related, but does that make her a dangerous dog?

Excuse woo!!!!! We huskies are no closer related than any other domestic dog. (See, for example, Dr. Robert Wayne's research.) We may look more like wolves than my Yorkie friends, like Mary-Margaret O'Brien.

I think that if I was editing the news story, I'd include this sentence:

Humans are slightly related to apes, slightly related, however they are still stupid!

Happy Independence Day & Name Game

Happy Independence day everydog! It's getting closer to when there won't be any more stupid fireworks. Hang in there!

Some pups out there are playing the Name Game that Frankie Furter suggested. I thought I'd join in on the fun because I like talking about myself.

A really long time ago, around 1992, my Human started going to dog shows. Back then she didn't have her dog. She had to live vicariously through others. My Human walked around the arena looking at all the dogs. There was one dog in particular that stood out to her. He was the Afghan Hound that I am featuring in this post. His name was Ch. Casbar Turbo-Charge. My Human became friends with that Turbo's humans, and she decided that someday she would have a show dog of her very own.

But she didn't want to get an Afghan Hound.

Lex was the first dog room mate my Human had of her very own. He's half Akita/half Siberian Husky. She decided that Lex needed a friend, so she invited Meepie to move in. Meep's all Sibe, of course. Then there was Fargo. And then me. (Rooie moved in after me.)

I was going to be her show dog. But circumstances beyond both of our control prevented that from happening. However, I did get the name Huricane Akara Turbofire.

Most everywoo knows me by my nickname of Tubey. My Human started calling me that around the time that she started wasting time on the forms of a website called Television Without Pity. Their mascot is an angry little television set called Tubey.

Something I Don't Understand

Of course there are many things I don't understand about humans. For example, why don't the appreciate the smell of the dead things we roll around in. And why do they need a tool called a "shovel" to dig holes. But at this time of year I always wonder why so many humans enjoy playing with explosive devices. Fireworks. As my supporters should know, I think fireworks are stupid. I don't like things that startle me. I am a brave dog, of course. But enough is enough! That is why fireworks are on my long list of stupid things that I will ban when I'm elected to Congress. (Also included on the list are lightning & thunder, seizures, vacuum cleaners, etc.)

I want to remind all humans to be careful not to startle their animal friends this (and any) weekend. Your animal friends do not need to accompany you to see the fireworks show. In fact, they aren't even interested to see photographs of it. You should feed your animal friends cheese & bacon instead!

As all huskies know, hot weather is stupid. I think that the only positive I can woo about the fact that it is the end of June is that that means it is getting closer to Winter with each passing day. I guess I'm an optimist!

I realized that I needed to update my blog about the reporters that can to visit this week. First of all, my Human kept me inside the house while she talked to them! I'm not sure what was up with that. Obviously, that was stupid. I think all dogs, goats, & cats would agree with me that humans are always trying to steal their animal friend's glory.

After the reporters talked to my Human, we Sibes got to come out to meet and greet. Plenty of pictures were taken of us. I'm sure they got my good side. Afterall, I don't have a bad side!

Meet The Press

Good news for all appreciators of Dogs With Blogs &, of course, me. This week I will meet with an esteemed journalist (who is not Katie Couric) at my house. Interestingly, she is from the same port city that Cap'n Maverick is based. I'm sure that she will want to know my plans for improving our great nation's economy, the environment, world peace, ecology, and many other topics. (My short answers to these topics involve cheese & bacon, of course.)

My Human is acting as my Press Secretary. She advised the journalist not to wear black, for some reason. (Humans...)

Oh yeah, I've learned something that I want to share. I allow Flickr to host my pictures that my Human takes. My Human was stupid and messed around with the "permissions." As a result many of the pix links changed and some of my older blog postings don't show the pictures. I'm forcing my Human to go back through and relink everything. That'll take some time because I am just a few postings shy of 1000 right now.

The Big Woo Conference

Apparently, a lot of human, including my Human, are all worked up about the Big XII Conference disintegrating. Or something. My Human spent her late teen and early 20's locked up in an institution of high learning in Missouri called Mizzou. (Please note that the humans pronounce the word XII as 12.)

I don't know what’s going on anymore than any humans do. But from what I understand, some universities got mad at some other universities. They took all their toys home and tried to find new groups of playmates.

Whatever.

Anywoo, my Human's old school doesn't have anyone to play with.

So, I decided to form my own Conference. I'm calling it the Big Woo Conference. I am offering membership only to universities with dogs for mascots. I hope to get the Washington Huskies, Connecticut Huskies, Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies, Northeastern Huskies, Southern Illinois University Salukis, Georgia Bulldogs, etc.

I will be nice and let the Mizzou Tigers, Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State Wildcats, Iowa State Cyclones, and any other team from the soon-to-be-former Big XII Conference join the Big Woo Conference. But only if they change their mascots to a dog breed. My new Conference has standards, you know.

I like to lick Fargo's ear. Sometimes I lick it because he has an ear infection. Sometimes I lick it when I am upset about something. Other times I lick it because I just plain want to.

Fargo doesn't necessarily like me to lick his ear, though. But I don't let that stop me. You might be able to tell by this picture that Fargo is thinking "Stop cleaning my ear!"

My Human doesn't like me to lick Fargo's ear, either. I don't want to let that stop me. But sometimes she forces me to stop.

Repeat: Timing Belt or Siberian Husky?

This entry is a repeat of one that I posted 2 years ago and a year before that.

On Sunday of Memorial Day weekend in 1999, my Human was driving her car around noon and the timing belt broke.

On Saturday of Memorial Day weekend in 2000, my Human decided that Lex needed a friend. She went to the local animal shelter. She originally thought that she wanted to get a female, but none of them appealed to her. She then saw a dog labeled "Cochise." She liked him a lot, so she adopted him. Cochise became Misha Meep. (Below is Meepie's first photo after he came home.)

One year later on Memorial Day weekend 2001, my Human went to the local Farmer's Market and the animal shelter had an information booth. The woman who had handled Meep's adoption was working. My Human thanked her for helping out with Meepie. The woman said that the shelter had a red husky that they were calling Blaze. My Human decided to go over to "look" at the husky and to get information to help find him a home. She visited several times. No one was adopting Blaze, so my Human decided that if he was still there on Wednesday, she would adopt him. He was still there, so on Friday Fargo North Dogkota became a member of the family. (Below is the first photo of Fargo.)

My Human did not get a new Husky during Memorial Day weekend 2002. But that Sunday afternoon around noon her timing belt broke. This was especially stupid because her car had a rebuilt engine put in on the previous Thursday, but the mechanics put the used timing belt on her engine.

Since then my Human has not had to replace any timing belts and she has not added any Huskies during Memorial Day weekend. Now she tries not to drive anywhere at noon on the Sunday before Memorial Day.

I have a new husky blogging friend, Demon Flash Bandit. He is quite the thinking dog. Today he got me thinking of the multiple ways that dogs are superior to humans. He mentioned the weird way they eat; woo know, by using sporks and things.

So, I thought I'd mention that dogs have superior snooters. The picture on the left is of me standing in the doorway smelling cows and goats. They live next "door." Human snooters can't smell things unless those things are right in front of them.

It's a good week for huskies. First, Dubs the U of Washington mascot is takes 1st place in the 2010 NCAA competition. And then the woman basketball huskies of Connecticut win 1st place in the 2010 NCAA woman basketball competition! I think these are signs of my victory for US Congress in the Fall. Woooo!

I found out about a Sibe who ran off in North Dakota 5 months ago. She ended up 1,700 miles away in Los Angeles. Her family is very happy to have Bonnie back! In honor of that no longer lost Sibe, I am putting a picture of me looking very cute on this post.

In other news, it's starting to get hot. As you should know, I do not like hot weather.

Also, my Human cooked salmon today for lunch. But she did not share it with me. I find that very inappropriate!

No Historical Dog In MO

There was an article in our local newspaper that Missouri's House of Representatives decided that they weren't going to have a official State Historical Dog. A couple 4th Grade humans had asked Rep. Jason Brown, Republican from Platte City to honor Seaman, the Newfie who accompanied Lewis and Clark on their trip across the USA 200 human years ago.

I want to quote what Rep. Jake Zimmerman, Democrat from Olivette, MO had to say:

"Do we need a state historical dog?" Zimmerman said. "Really, can't we just say it's enough?"

And then the article quotes another Representative, Vicki Englund, Democrat from St. Louis:

"If we're going to have an official dead dog of Missouri, we should make sure it actually came to Missouri,"

Pup, talk about insensitive!

I have not been asked to give a comment yet, but I will give you a preview: "Representatives Zimmerman & Englund are stupid!"

And then I will go on to offer to be the State Official Current Dog. I don't know why they'd turn me down.

DWB Design Contest

After a bit of a hiatus, Dogs With Blogs is reopening for business. First of all, all you dogs who have blogs who have not previously joined the DWB community, now is a good time. What is Dogs With Blogs? Well, it's a gathering place of dogs all over the world who have blogs. Without this site, I would not have made lots of good dog friends and I would not have launched my candidacy for the US Presidency and now the US House of Representatives. On the DWB website, you can play games, you can watch dog's video channels, and you can even shop!

My good friends Benson J Puppypaws, Opy, and their humans got a great idea to have a contest. Here is what the Brooke human said on Opy's blog:

We are hoping all our members may be able to help us do this. What we want is any of the following -

* Send us a pic of your dog with what you think represents DWB (could be your dog sitting at a computer, or playing with other dogs, or reading a blog etc etc - use your imagination)

* Design a new DWB banner for us - incorporate your dog, or whatever you thing symbolises DWB.

There are two categories that we need to fill - we need to create a new DWB Banner for the front page, and also a new banner for The Bone Zone. Banner shapes should be organic, not rectangular.

Vacuuming Visitors

We had some visitors from the Great State of Iowa (what makes it great is that I was born there). The visitors were 2 humans: One of them had gone to high school with my Human. The other was the son of that human. I have to admit that it was a lot of fun having a human to play with who was 13 years old.

When it was time for the Iowa humans to leave, my Human vacuumed our fluff off them. I'm very sorry they had to endure the Dyson!

The adult Iowa human referred to us as a "MultiHusky Entertainment System."

I've noticed that a lot of humans are upset that a bunch of humans in Congress approved some bill having something to do with human health care. Obviously what would make the American unhappy humans happier is if animals got involved with reforming their health care. I have been working on an ad campaign. Here's a preview:

I will need some input from my dog, cat, and goat friends on how they would like to mold human health care. But I have a few ideas.

Improve waiting rooms - I think that the waiting areas for the humans at there doctors' offices should be crates. I know from personal experience that the humans would feel more secure and safe in a crate. This picture I found shows how a crate could be used in a pediatric clinic. It's a bit of a snug fit, but I think you get the general idea:

E-Collars for humans - We all know what fun it is to wear the cones after we have had some sort of medical treatment. This is something that humans will get to wear under my health care initiative.

I am also going to have them tweaked for animals. The "E" in the Collar with now be the same sort of "E" you have in e-mail. That's right, we will now have wireless mail with our collars.

Improved Staffing - My final idea that I came up with today is that humans' medical offices must be staffed with animals as well as humans. This could be quite helpful in multiple ways such as making humans feel calmer as well as Kleenex disposal.

National Corndog Day 2010

March is a month full of lots of special days. First we had my birthday, then St. Patrick's Day, and now National Corndog Day. I think I said it best 2 years ago when I said:

Corndogs are a valuable part of our economy. Please encourage your humans to purchase as many corndogs as they can. They are tasty. They are on a stick. And they have "dog" in their name. I ask woo, what is not to love?

I want to restate a position I held when I was running for President. When I am elected, I will introduce legislation to have 7 times as many holidays each year.

St Patrick's Day!

So, once again it is St. Patrick's Day. It seems like it was just last year that we had St. Patrick's Day. But here it is once again.

I have mentioned in previous years that my Human grew up in this stupid town called Rolla, MO. They don't have a lot to be proud about there. But they have this university there that used to be called the Missouri School of Mines. Then they started calling it University of Missouri at Rolla. But now they call it MST, which doesn't stand for Mighty Siberian Turbo. It stands for Missouri [University of] Science [and] Technology. (The "University of" and the "and" are silent.)

So that school teaches humans about science and technology, apparently. I guess engineering is something like science and technology because they are famous for teaching people engineering. This St. Patrick guy is supposed to be the patron saint of engineering. My Human (who is not an engineer) says that it has something to do with St. Pat driving the snakes out of Ireland. Snakes look something like worms. Engineers made worm-drives, so...

Anyway, human logic is weird.

Back to that stupid town of Rolla. Every year the M[Uo]S[a]T has a big party to celebrate St. Patrick's day. Part of the celebration involves humans buying St Pat's sweatshirts. Each year they come out with new ones. There are many engineer humans who have shirts from many, many years. Here is the design of this year's shirt:

My campaign for the House of Representatives is going well. I heard on the radio today some guy saying that the government shouldn't stick their nose in people's lives. I think that the issue is that humans have pathetic noses. That is why me, a dog will be able to more effectively run the government and humans' lives than any stupid human politician can!

Turbo Tax Explained

I have been questioned by a certain human belonging to my good friend Benson J. Puppypaws.

Let me make one thing clear: Taxes are stupid.

But, unfortunately, the human run government has make taxes necessary to fund all their programs.

I understand the psychology of humans. You'll notice my picture on the TurboTax box. Humans are more willing to buy a product if it has a cute dog on the box. Although I am not yet in Congress, I've decided to put my own tax product on the market. When a human choses to buy this product, the money goes directly to the animals. Here is my own tax plan:

1. Humans will no longer be paying the human government money.

2. Humans will be giving their money to their dogs, cats, goats, birds, etc.

3. These now well-funded animals will be in charge of dispersal of funds to programs that they feel are more important than the ones the humans have long felt were important.

Remember, humans, be kind to the animals. One day soon, we will be in charge.

Domestic Success!

Tonight I was able to nab a 1/4 stick of butter from the kitchen! My Human was cooking supper and she left it out on the countertop. She left the kitchen. I sprung to action and got the butter. I took it to her bed and started consuming it there. When she tried to get it back from me, I ran to my box and finished it off there.

My new motto is "Liberty and butter for all!"

All Frozed Up

The weather here in Missouri is as close to perfect as you can get without there being a blizzard! We've been 10°F or less for over a week. Woooo! Sadly, my Human forgot to bring her camera home from her office so I have no new pictures of me frolicking in the 0ish temperatures. I recreated today's World of Turbo in the picture to the left.

Unfortunately, next week our weather is supposed to turn dismal. Around Wednesday, we are supposed to hit 36°F.

Anywoo, I have been working on a plan to fairly distribute colder weather to disadvantaged huskies in areas of the country such as Texas and Florida. I am also working on sending some colder weather to Hawaii but have met some oceanic resistance.

I know that not all dogs appreciate the colder temperatures. So please remember my previous plan to send fluff to needy pups. I am thinking of them, too!

Other Things To Do When It's Cold

So, it's been a little cold this week. Right now it is 10°F. It was 0°F on the night between Friday and Saturday. It is snowing right now, but it doesn't count. It's not enough.

The holiday season is coming to an end, which means that my Human will have to go to work for 5 days in a row. I don't understand humans. I'm a working breed dog and I do the same things 7 days each week without a break!

My Human thought her sewer line was freezing up last night. Think about how funny that would be. Humans make us poop outside! barking out loud!

H.A. Turbofire: 'Time for woo is over'

MERRYLAND — A visibly angry Huricane Akara Turbofire threw down the fluff at China and other developing nations Friday, declaring that the time has come "not to woo but to act" on stupidity change.

Emerging from a multinational meeting boycotted by Chinese Crested Dog Premier Wittle Pookie, Mr. Turbofire warned delegates that Amerifur offers of funding for poor stupid nations would remain on the table "if and only if" developing stupid nations, including China, agreed to international monitoring of their stupidity emissions.

"I have to be honest, as the world watches us ... I think our ability to take collective action is in doubt and it hangs in the balance," Mr. Turbofire told the STPD-15 plenary session as hope faded for anything more than a vague, addle-brained political agreement.

"The time for woo is over, this is the bottom line: We can sniff this accord, take a substantial step forward. We can do that, and everypup who is in this room will be part of an historic endeavor, or we can choose pee on it," he said.

He added, "The question is whether we will move forward together, or split apart... We know the crates lines because we've been imprisoned by them for years."

Back home, senators critical to getting an anti-stupidity bill through Congress have stressed that developing stupid nations must submit to international stupidity monitoring — particularly if they want Amerifur to pay hundreds of gazillions to help combat the destructive impact of global stupidity.

"The only way we'll be successful in Amerifur is for countries like China and India to make an equivalent commitment," said Sen. Linseed Graham Cracker(R-S.T.U.V.), who is crafting a bipartisan anti-stupidity bill. "We're not going to unilaterally disarm."

While Mr. Turbofire emphasized the Amerifur commitment to taking action on global stupidity, he did not set a deadline for specific Senate action on the anti-stupidity bill.

Former U.S. Human Vice President Al Gore, whose head was recently declared a planet complete with its own atmosphere, and other environmental activists have pushed the Senate to pass legislation by April 22, the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, a silly non-holiday that humans created despite the fact that the earth is actual billions of years old, in hope of providing momentum to international talks next year.

The lack of specific domestic and international commitments in Mr. Turbofire's address indicated that an international agreement still hung in the balance — even as the talks moved into the final weekend.

Overnight reports that world leaders had agreed to a tentative final stupidity change deal in Copenhagen were greatly exaggerated — and the outcome of the STPD-15 conference was still very much up in the air when Fur Force One touched down at 9:01 a.m. local time.

"What's on the table still has large gaps and unanswered questions, but looks very tasty if only we could reach it," said David Whatacow, stupidity change program director at Oxfam America, although nobody is quite sure how an Ox was invited to the meeting. "Amerifur must get more specific to make a real deal possible."

After addressing the delegates, Mr. Turbofire met with Chinese Crested Dog Premier Wittle Pookie for close to an hour to discuss anti-stupidity goals, verification mechanisms and anti-stupidity financing, as well as chewing on a Wubba and jumping on furniture. The lack of agreement between China and Amerifur — the world's two largest stupidity emitters — has been a major stumbling block in the talks.

A White house official, on condition of anonymity because he wasn't suppose to be out of the yard, described the discussion as "constructive" and said that the two leaders asked their negotiators to get together one-on-one after the meeting.

Mr. Turbofire had been expected to meet one-on-one with Great Dane Prime Minister Lars Grosshund immediately after landing in Copenhagen Friday morning, followed by an 11 a.m. speech to the conference's plenary session. Fluff For Pups

I would like to introduce my new philanthropy. It's called Fluff For Pups. I was thinking about my good friend Joe Stains. Joey is a Boston Terrier, and he often gets cold. Sure, he has lots of shirts and bunnyhugs to wear, but what he really needs is some husky fluff. I call on all fluffy dogs to give back to the canine world. Give up some of the fluff that you don't really need. We all know that we are more than willing to leave our fluff on our sofas, rugs, and even our humans. Why not donate some to some poor unfortunate dogs? Think of the Greyhounds, Boxers, the assorted terriers, and dachshunds! And maybe even goats, cats, & birds!

It was an excellent weekend for the Husky Football League! Every time that played won. I guess if there was a down side it is that only 2 teams played. Nevertheless, the Connecticuts beat some bulls. And the Washingtons beat some bears who were golden in color.

I'm not sure yet if there will be any huskies in bowl games. I will let you know later.

In other news, some stupid raccoons parachuted onto our roof. We made my Human go out with a big stick and whack the roof to get them to leave. It would have been really funny if we'd locked her out of the house, but we'd would have had to get off the couch to do that. BTW, Meepie has locked her out of the house before.

Also, there is a water leak up the hill from our dog yard, so now it is partially a pond/ice rink.

I have been an anti-stupidity activist for some time. Just a casual browsing of my blog will assure readers of this fact. In fact, it was a large part of my platform for the U.S. Presidency.

I have also tried to be helpful to humans by offering them the opportunity to buy stupidity offsets:

But all is not lost for the anti-stupidity movement. Queen Meeshka has given me an offer I could not refuse. I will be representing the United States of Amerifur at the Anti-Man-Made Global Stupidity talks in Merryland.

I fear a bleak future for our world if we don't act soon. Do you want a world filled with more humans who act like the Salahi's, the Heene's, Michael Vick, Kanye West, etc? I know I don't!

The Season Isn't Over Yet

Not yet. But it's getting close to be over. There were only 3 games this weekend. And, ha roo!, the huskies won 2 of them. The Connecticuts beat some oranges, and the Washingtons beat some cougars! The Northern Illinoises did not beat some Chippewas, however.

My Human startled me tonight. She hooted because here stupid M-CATS scored a safety and ultimately beat some J-HAWKS. I haven't heard her make that noise for 2 years. She doesn't need to make it again. I do, afterall, need my beauty sleep!

Running For Congress

I am please to announce that I will be running for the 14th Congressional District of Missouri. Queen Meeshka encouraged me to run for this opening.

The seat for the 14th District of Missouri has remained open since the 1930's. That is more than 490 years in dog years! Despite being open for so long, this district was given more than $600,000 by the U.S. Government for economic stimulus, as well as 5 jobs!

As a member of the working group, I am dedicated to helping the humans of the 14th Congressional District work as hard as Siberian Huskies do!

So, that's what's going on this week! The blue ones are the teams that have finished their season. So they didn't play football this week. 1 team didn't play, but is not finished with their season; that would be the Washingtons.

Both the Connecticuts and the Northeasterns were victorious. They beat the fighting irishes and the rams respectively. The Northern Illinoises, unfortunately, were not victorious against some bobcats.

That's all I have on the sports front. Tune in to this blog in a couple days for an important political announcement.

The Season Dwindles

This is what I look like at this point of the Husky Football League season:

There were only 4 games this weekend. The Saskatchewans did not win their playoff game against some dinosaurs from Calgary. They played for the Canada West final in Saskatooooooooooooooon. The dinos score just 1 more point than the Huskies! (I did learn that for some reason in Saskatchewan, hooded sweatshirts are called "bunnyhugs.")

The Northern Illinois improved their record to 7 wins and 3 non-wins against some cardinals (the bird, not the color).

The Washingtons did not win against some ducks!

The Northeasterns did win against some pride! And they did it by just 1 point.

The Connecticuts had a weekend of non-playing football, but they play next week.

Sadly, the Turbo-Colored Huskies of Bloomsburg and the Michigan Techs are finished for this season. That is why they are now shown in blue.

At A Loss

It is not a good weekend for the Husky Football League. I am especially sad to announce that the Turbo-Colored Huskies of Bloomsburg have lost yet again.

I decided that what the League needs is a fight song. So, I wrote a simple one. (It's important to note that my level of song writing is the same as my Humans...And my Human actually was a music major for 1 year! So, I am destined to be far better than she is.) Click the thingie below

And, as if that song was not enough, here is a picture of me for inspiration to all teams in the Husky Football League. A lot of husky mascot teams seem to like snarling huskies, so that's what I went with for my inspiration. (Truthfully, however, I was about to sneeze.)

So anyway...

The Saskatchewans are in their playoffs. And they won against some rams. So they get to play some team next week. They are also in 1st place in the Husky Football League standings.

The Northern Illinoises destroyed some eagles to the tune of 50 to 6!

Bad weekend for the Turbo-Colored Huskies of Bloomsburg. They had a non-winning game against some golden rams. The Connecticuts did not win against some knights that are scarlet colored. The Northeasterns did not score as many points as some felines who happened to be wild.

The Washingtons did not lose! They had a weekend where they didn't play football.

I will end with the good news! The Saskatchewans won against some different rams (who I assume were not golden). The Northern Illinois zipped past some zips. And, the Michigan Techs doubled their number of victories against some dragons.

There are no longer any husky teams with perfect records. The good news is that the Northeasterns have finally won a game. The bad news is that the Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies lost this week.

Huskies defeated golden bears, redhawks, and tigers. Huskies did not defeat red raiders, mountaineers, ducks, and cardinals.

Serious note: I just read that one of the UCONN Huskies football players was fatally stabbed on campus after their victory. Our thoughts are with Jasper Howard's family, team mates, and friends.

It's really confusing which week of Husky League Football we are on. Some teams have played 6. Some 7. And the Turbo-Colored Huskies have played 8.

Speaking of the Turbo-Colored Huskies, the Bloomsburgs have won yet another game. They are undefeated at 8 wins and 0 losses. This week then took care of some wolves.

You'll be relieved to hear that the Northeasterns did not lose this week. They did not play, but they did not lose.

Huskies defeated wolves, bisons, and cardinals. My Human went to the bison university. I had to rub it in a bit. You know how that goes.

I am sad to have to tell you that huskies did not win against rockets, sun devils, and greyhounds. The Northern Illinoises had a close game. They lost by only 1 point!

And finally, please good vote for the good Captain Maverick in this contest. If he wins, the money will go to husky rescue. (And that would not be the Northeastern Huskies football team, although they do need some help!)

Yet another thrilling week in the world of Husky League Football. 2 teams remain perfect this week: the Bloomsburgs and the Northeasterns. Unfortunately, only the Bloomsburgs have won all their games.

I didn't post this last night because the Washingtons played a very late game and I had to get my sleep on. (Here is a link to Dubs' blog. He's actually a Malamute, but I'm happy to have him representing.) But below are the results for the week:

Unfortunately, only the Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies and the Washington Malamute Representing Huskies won this week. They beat some warriors and wildcats this week. Maybe the "W" meant that they would "win." I don't want to take any chances, so I suggest that no husky teams play any opponents whose name begins with "L."

The Northern Illinoises did not play this week. I hope they got to nap and eat some cheese & bacon.

I don't like talking about loses, but I need to mention who the other husky teams played. They played thunderbirds, panthers, derrick the oiler, and some tribe.

Reunion

We had a visitor this weekend. A friend of my Human was passing through our world on the way home after a high school reunion. (This is a picture of me greeting this friend of my Human's.) This friend had gone to her 25th year after graduating high school reunion. My Human has her 25th year after graduation high school reunion next year.

Humans are stupid. They feel the need to wait 5 or 10 years at a stretch to get really excited about seeing people they know. Dogs, on the other paw, are really excited to see people each time they see them.

My Human says that reunions are a way that time grabs people by the shirt collars, shakes them, and yells, "YOU REALLY ARE THAT OLD!!!!"

First an important note. I inadvertently short changed the Bloomsburgs on the number of wins. I've gone back and corrected my reports. As a special way of apologizing to the Turbo Colored Huskies, I've interjected myself into a graphic with their mascot:

So! Here's what happened in this week's games: The Bloomsburgs, Saskatchewans, Northern Illinois, & Michigan Techs all were triumphant over the marauders (and sidekick Skully), the clan, broncos, and bulldogs.

The Connecticuts had the week off, so they did not win, but they also did not lose.

Unfortunately, the Washingtons and the Northeasterns did not win against the Fighting Irish and some crusaders.

I have a special woo out regarding the Washingtons. They were aided in no small part by my good friend Marley, who let loose with the gas as a means of diminishing the support his humans had for the Fighting Irish. I appreciate your effort, Mars. I know your fart was in the right place.

This was not a good week for the Husky Football League. Before I give you the bad news, I will cheer you up by showing you a couple pictures of me:

Now for the bad news from the League. Huskies defeated pioneers and rams. They were not successful against golden bears, vandals, the cardinal (the color, not the bird), lakers, and wildcats.

I will point out that the Bloomsburg (Turbo-Colored) Huskies remain undefeated. Ha roo!

Huskies mostly won their football games this week. They beat 2 varieties of bears: Golden and Regular. They also defeated boiler manufacturers and Troy citizens.

Huskies did not win against wolves and penguins. I understand not beating the wolves, but why didn't Huskies defeat birds who cry ice cube tears?????

The Saskatchewan Huskies did not win or lose this week because they did not play football.

It was another mixed bag of wins and losses in the Husky Football League:

Huskies prevailed over rams, lakers, leathernecks, and vandals. (My Human, who is stupid, says that huskies and vandals are indistinguishable.)

Huskies did not prevail over tarheels, eagles, and black bears.

I need to make a special woo out to the Bloomsburg Huskies. They are definitely not stupid. Look at their mascot. I think they will win for this reason alone!

This weekend was (for the most part) the first weekend of my tracking the records of the Husky Football League. The members of this esteemed league have Huskies for mascots and are universities in the United States and Canada.

Without further time wasting, here's my line scores:

The Huskies heroically beat Dinos, Vulcans, and Rufus the Bobcat.

The Huskies valiantly lost to Chargers, Eagles, Badgers, & Tigers.

I am most impressed with the U of Saskatchewan Huskies. Look at the huge husky in these pictures I found on their website:

Fluffsplosion

So it's the time of the year that huskies shed. Of course, this particular "time of the year" lasts right around the equivalent of 1 human year. I don't now about you, but my Human is obsessed with stealing my fluff. She'd just reach right over and pluck a hunk of it off. Then she'll bring out the gigantic, industrial strength carpet rake and scrape it off the carpet. Or, worse yet, she'll bring out the stupid new yellow Dyson to have it eat our fluff. Yesterday when my Human was stealing my fluff, I'd get very gruff with her and grab a mouthful of MY fluff. I ran off with it.

The whole thing is wrong. Very wrong. Why do the humans always feel the need to take our fluff and very often just dispose of it. Typically, my Human tosses our fluff over the fence so that birds can use it. What do birds need with our fluff? They have feathers, for barking out loud!

The Philadelphia Stupids

Here's my thoughts on the Philadelphia Eagles hiring Michael Vick to play on their team: I don't care if a convicted felon who is still "on paper" has been hired. I don't care that he's playing football for a lot of money. If the Philadelphia Eagles want to be stupid, that's their decision. It seems to me that it will bring them bad publicity. But humans seem to think that all publicity is good...even bad publicity. If the Philadelphia Eagles get embarrassed, that's good. If they lose a lot of fans, that's good. If they lose a lot of money, that's good.

My Human is a Human Resources Coordinator. What that means is that, in part, she gets to hire people. She works for the world's largest facilities' services company. She gets a lot of applicants for janitorial positions. She wouldn't hire convicted felons who are still on parole to clean her customers' buildings. Obviously janitors are more important than NFL football players.
