Knowing The Score

woo!

My Human didn't want to hear me yelling at Lex today. She was wearing head phones and listening to Brahms Symphony #4. She decided to download the score so she could follow along.

A really long time ago, my Human wanted to be an orchestra conductor. But she gave up that dream for the chance to be a Human Resources Coordinator...whatever that is. Way back when, my Human played the French horn. A French horn is a curly-Q musical instrument that plays boring notes in an orchestra. For example...

While the horns are playing this:

This is what the flutes are doing:

Here you will see that the horns are holding a note for a while:

While the violins are going crazy!

And finally, you will notice that the horns are playing different notes here. Pretty exciting, eh?

But now the violas and cellos are doing their own more exciting thing:

WOW!

There is just no end to your human's talents!!

On our walks, we pass a house with a piano in the living by the window - my mom rekhalls how she used to be able to read musikh and kind of play it -

Then she looks at her guitar she bought with intentions of learning how to play it -

But then she sits her butt down and pawmits me to blog -

Life is what it is -

Our Mom used to play the piano but she says those scores are really complicated.

Mistress says she thinks the flutes (and violins) are kinda like the sopranos and the horns are kinda like the tenors or the basses.

And she had a good friend at university who played the French horn. Her friend liked Wagner very much.

Well that is the end of my second hand musical knowledge.

I'm not sure, but I think Dave would be a French horn if the Ao4 was an orchestra.

My mom played the clarinet and she said the clarinet has really boring music too, but she always thought it was the trumpets with the fun stuff.

Your human is impressive! My Old Girl plays the piano but not very well. In fact, I voice my displeasure whenever she plays.

Your human's talents are never ending, Tubey! My mum doesn't play any musical instruments but she (thinks she) can sing a bit.

We are impressed. Neither of us have any rhythm at all. Still, one of us muddled through 8 years of concert band and another 4 as low brass section leader for the marching band. Talk about a sometimes mundane score: euphoniums play mostly whole notes.

PS- My friend, Michelle, used to break the strings on her french horn valves on purpose so that she wouldn't have to play during practice.

Wooosers! Our bipeds used to play instruments, but humom never did did figure out how to read music. And as our President, it's important for you to know what the score is! We're counting on woo!
