The Big Woo Conference

woo!
Apparently, a lot of human, including my Human, are all worked up about the Big XII Conference disintegrating. Or something. My Human spent her late teen and early 20's locked up in an institution of high learning in Missouri called Mizzou. (Please note that the humans pronounce the word XII as 12.)

I don't know what’s going on anymore than any humans do. But from what I understand, some universities got mad at some other universities. They took all their toys home and tried to find new groups of playmates.

Whatever.

Anywoo, my Human's old school doesn't have anyone to play with.

So, I decided to form my own Conference. I'm calling it the Big Woo Conference. I am offering membership only to universities with dogs for mascots. I hope to get the Washington Huskies, Connecticut Huskies, Bloomsburg Turbo-Colored Huskies, Northeastern Huskies, Southern Illinois University Salukis, Georgia Bulldogs, etc.

I will be nice and let the Mizzou Tigers, Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State Wildcats, Iowa State Cyclones, and any other team from the soon-to-be-former Big XII Conference join the Big Woo Conference. But only if they change their mascots to a dog breed. My new Conference has standards, you know.

Back To Normal

.

With Mizzou losing their game last night, things can finally get back to normal. I decided that they might have won if I had been playing defense. So I am beginning to learn the game:

My Human doesn't put up a Christmas tree in our house. She said it would be inviting disaster what with 6 huskies in the house. Of course I think that is stupid. I'm in favor of house trees. In fact, when I'm President, all houses will be required to have live house trees year 'round.

You wouldn't believe how uncomfortable I was getting into this stocking!

And finally! (And most importantly!)

My Human and a friend are going to make lots and lots of tamales in about a month. She needs a recipe, however. She has a really good, but complicated Mexican cookbook. But she was hoping for easier recipes. Please send your tamale recipes to her through me at this link: Tubey Mail

Another Interview With My Human

.

First of all, thank you for letting me have some of the crusts from your sandwich this morning. I don't know if you noticed, but I repayed you by peeing on your bathtub.

*Sigh.* Yes, I noticed. You're welcome.

So, what's so great about the stupid striped Khats of Ol' Mizzou?

When I was a Freshman at the University of Missouri, they won only 1 football game. This was back in 1985. Since I first attended Mizzou, the football team's record is 108 wins, 151 losses, and 4 ties. And now they are #1. They've won 11 games and lost just 1 this year (so far). [Click here for the team's football records since 1985.]

It took them 22 years.

Yes. Mizzou sports teams have lost many games in weird and heartbreaking ways. Because of this, when non-fans mock the fact Mizzou is #1, it doesn't have as much effect as it might on other schools' fans. Missouri fans are used to failure and disappointment. The success this year is a new and novel experience.

I understand that it is your fault that Mizzou lost their bowl game last year. Please explain.

I said with about 6 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, "I don't think even Missouri can blow this lead." Because of that, I don't consider that a game is won until a few minutes after then game is officially over.

Why do you wear that same stupid Missouri Tigers shirt every Friday now?

Because the 1 Friday I wore my Mizzou polo shirt they lost to Oklahoma--their only loss. I'm not taking any chances.

I've heard that if you feed me livergreat that the Mizzou Tigers will win.

Well, I haven't heard that, but since you brought it up I should probably do it to be on the safe side.

Why don't you go to see the football games in person?

I've never seen the team win a game in person. When I was a freshman, I was in Marching Mizzou. They didn't win any games that the band attended that year. I'm not taking any chances.

You're stupidstitious.

The word is "superstitious."

I know. I was making a point.

Why are you putting pictures of yourself on this blog entry rather than anything to do with Mizzou?

Because no one cares about your stupid team. My readers come here to read about me. I'm just humoring you by letting you talk about your obsession.

Sleeping Cute

.

As I'm sure you are all aware, sleeping huskies are cute:

But Fargo was irreverent!

By the way, my Human startled me with a really weird noise on Saturday night when her stupid striped C-A-T-S (or Khats, if you speak Khyraese) scored a safety against the birds of Kansas. Look, I was sleeping. She should have been more considerate! Anyway, her stupid striped whatevers are now ranked #1, or #2. Mostly #1, though. Whatever that means...

Human Obsession

.

To answer the Ao4's question, no. I will not be going to the game. First of all, there aren't huskies playing in it, so it doesn't have any good points for me. Secondly, I think it's stupid.

But my Human won't be going either. She is stupid stitious right now. She's been wearing the same stupid Mizzou t-shirt every Friday this season, except for one. And that was the Friday before the only game that Mizzou lost. My Human has never been to a wining Missouri football game, so she feels like a bad influence! (Note to Sitka, when my Human went to the U of GA, the Bulldogs had their first losing season in a really long time. My Human moved away and the team starting winning again!)

Lots of stupid humans in Missouri and Kansas are bringing up stupid stuff that happened in the 1800's as a reason to hate each other. This is more proof that humans are stupid and we canines are superior. I'll be banning that sort of stupid behavior when I am President!

By the way, the head couch of Missouri does have a bit of a husky link. He was an assistant couch at the U of Washington in the 1970's and 1980's. So, I guess I'll root for Mizzou.

Life With Football

.
Okay, here's the Husky Football League wrap-up: Huskies beat Orangemen & Golden Bears. Huskies lost to Rams & Midshipmen. It looks like the Bloomsburgs, Saskatchewans, and the Michigan Techs regular seasons are finished.

My Human is stupid and getting stupider! As I've mentioned a few times before, she went to a stupid University with a stupid striped C-A-T for a mascot! I told her that she should have chosen her school more carefully! In other words, one with a husky for a mascot.

Anywoo, for some bizarre reason, the football team of this non-husky team has won 9 games and lost just 1. My Human is waddling around in a daze talking about BCS rankings and stupid stuff like that.

Next Saturday "her" team will be playing a bunch of stupid crimson & blue birds that is "her" school's biggest rival. (Now, I'm saying that they are stupid because they are birds, and birds, by nature, are stupid. Just like humans, actually. I'm not saying that they are stupid because they are from that state that some of my best buds live in. But my Human would say that they are stupid just because they live in a town called Larry, or something like that. I lost interest when she was trying to explain it to me.)

Please realize that when my Human was a Freshpup at the striped C-A-T school, the football team lost all but 1 game. They were really bad for a really long time.

I have a feeling my Human is going to be unbearable for at least 1 more week, and possibly for another month and a half!

Stupid, Non-Sharing Human

.

My Human is stupid. She did not share her supper with me tonight. She didn't share her bacon. She didn't share her omelet. She didn't share her French toast. And she especially didn't share her ice cream.

My Human is stupid every night right now. She brings that stupid D. Animal out every night to suck up our fur. We keep putting more fun on the carpet each night, hoping that my Human and the stupid vacuum will stop their stupid dance routine.

My Human is also stupid because she doesn't have any new photos of me to share with you all. She said that I should post a few pictures of other boring things.

Here's a stupid leaf with a stupid bug on it. We keep pulling the leaves off of the vine, but they keep growing.

Here's a stupid bridge over the Missouri River. My Human went out for a ride in the huskymobile without me and took this picture.

At that stupid non-husky mascot having university that my Human went to, they have these old columns that are out in the middle of a bunch of green grass. A really long time ago, even before my Human went to school there, a building burned down. The columns have stood there since then.

Happy St Patrick's Day

My Human grew up in a small town in south central Missouri called Rolla. Not much goes on in Rolla, but they have a branch of the U of MO system there. It's still currently known as UMR (or University of Missouri-Rolla). They want to change their name to something along the lines of Missouri Tech. My Human likes to say that Rolla is a good place to be from!

Anyway, where I'm leading to with this is that St Patrick's day has always been a very important holiday in my Human's life. They celebrate it in a big way in Rolla. You see, back in 1904 some students at the main Missouri University branch (the one my Human went to a bunch of years later) decided that they needed to have an extra holiday to celebrate. Four years later the holiday became a big deal in Rolla. There is some convoluted reason as to why, but it boils down to St Patrick being the patron saint of engineering. UMR is a big engineering school.

My Human told me that they paint the main street (actually Pine Street) with a substance called "Alice," which is green the day of the St Pat's parade. She told me that Alice is basically stuff like puke, poop, and pee. Dogs, can you imagine how incredible that must smell?!

When my Human was in high school (with a Bulldog for a mascot), she was in marching band. But they never marched in the St Pat's parade 'cause the powers that be didn't want the band to march down a street filled with drunk engineering students.

My Human got her degree in English, but her advice to all the kids out there is to get a degree in engineering 'cause they can do just about anything with their degree. (Including painting streets with poop!)

This year is the 99th celebration of St Pat's in Rolla. Below is the logo on their sweatshirt this year. Every year humans can buy a St Pat's sweatshirt. My Human is feeling old because she still has the 75th anniversary shirt she got during her high school years.

Husky Logo #24

.

Today I'm waving my paw towards Kiska, the mascot of Dieruff High School in Allentown, PA.

According to their website:

Dieruff's mascot, the Husky, was named Kiska in 1959 in order to honor the dog and ten men of the American Naval Weather Detachment who were captured by the Japanese on Kiska Island in 1942. Today, Kiska IV is eight years old and reside with retired instructors from DHS. At the May 2005 Kiska Dance, student raised money in order to care for a feed Kiska this year. The dog makes appearances at every important high school event or activity, and is much loved by Dieruff students, past and present.

And, the huskies of Adopt-A-Husky have stopped by this school to give their support! The students of this school give a lot of help to Adopt A Husky.

(Some of the students at my Human's alma mater helped save some stupid tigers. They should have been helping the huskies, too!)

Meepie Wants You to Know...

Former Enron Corp. chief Kenneth Lay went to the same university that my Human went to, but it was a really long time ago. That's really about all that they have in common. My Human has never been really rich, but she's also never been convicted of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, either.

In 1999 Mr. Lay gave Mizzou $1.1 million dollars to endow a chair in economics in his name. The University never got anyone to sit in that really expensive chair, so the money remains unused. Now Mr. Lay would like the money back, but the University says that the gift is irrevocable. Also, the money can't be used for any other purpose. So a bunch of stupid humans from the University and Mr. Lay's representatives are trying to figure out what to do with the money. Mizzou insists that they are still trying to find someone to take the Kenneth Lay Chair in Economics.

Northeastern Husky Revisited

King crowned big dog on campus - Campus Life

I found this article while playing online. Each thing that I read makes me love Northeastern University more and more. I especially love this quote:

"Having both Paws and King as mascots is great. One can dance around to excite the crowds, while the other attracts attention and develops excitement by representing a real Husky and being [petted] by people," Hackmeister said.

If only my Human had had the foresight to go to NU rather than that stupid Mizzou with their stupid cat mascot.

Husky Logo #4

Today we do a play bow in the direction of Naperville North High School. When my Human was getting her degree at Mizzou, she had a neighbor who attended this high school. At that time my Human didn't know that she'd be fortunate later in life to live with Siberian huskies (she was into Scottish terriers then). But she had her neighbor bring her a t-shirt with the NNHS Husky on it.

Please join us in howling a nice woooo in support of all the schools that choose a husky as their mascot.

University

Our Human spent a few years getting a degree at the a university in the middle of the United States. She occasionally likes to take us to walk around on the campus. You never know who you might run into. The photo on the left was taken with Thomas Jefferson. The one on the right is Fargo with Beetle Bailey. Thomas Jefferson was once the humans' President. Beetle Bailey is a graduate of this university, but he attended there before our Human did.

When my Human was at school, she knew the human who would dress up as the mascot, a big stupid cat. After he graduated, he got to dress up as a big wolf for some team somewhere. A definate improvement.

I may be enrolling in a study that their Vet School is doing on canine epilepsy. I have seizures occasionally and apparently so do some of my brothers and sisters. I'm not in bad shape, but I'd prefer not doing it at all.
